 Uruguay can be visited year-round. The most pleasant months to visit are November through March when temperatures range from 77-86°F. Even in the fall and winter months (April through October) the weather can be less stable but often still mild. Make sure that in addition to light clothing, you also pack some warmer clothing and a windbreaker.

Currency: the Uruguay Peso. US$1 = approx. 25 Uruguay Pesos. Exchange rate: October 2006. We recommend bringing US dollars in cash. Credit cards are widely accepted. Most bank machines will also accept ATM cards with the Maestro logo. Prices are lower than in the United States. To reward good service of your travel guide/driver, we recommend a tip of US$2-3 per day. In restaurants people usually leave a 10% tip. |
