13-DAY TOUR FROM/TO MÉXICO CITY
Colonial MéxicoTRAVELOGUE Day 1: México City Arrival in this fascinating metropolis and transfer to your hotel in the city center. Day 2: México City -Teotihuacán - México City Travel to the Guadalupe Basilica. This Basilica can accommodate 40.000 believers and is the most important pilgrimage site in Latin America. Next you will visit the largest archeological excavation in Latin America- Teotihuacán. On the highlands, surrounded by mountains, arise the monumental Sun and Moon Pyramids. Day 3: México City - Tula - Querétaro Today you explore the largest city in the world; impressive pyramids, ornate baroque churches and the snow-capped Popocatepetl Volcano. After a city tour you visit the Anthropological Museum. Next you will see the Antlantean statues in Tula. Arrival in Querétaro in the evening. Day 4: Querétaro - San Miguel de Allende - Guanajuato Visit Querétaro. The many churches and squares, street cars and white colored houses characterize the capital of Querétaro State. The historic center was designated an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. Next we continue to San Miguel de Allende with its typical narrow cobblestone streets, elegant houses, flowered courtyards and impressive pink parish church. On the way to Guanajuato we make a brief stop at the monumental Pípila memorial. The views from the look-out over the old mining town below are quite spectacular. Day 5: Guanajuato - Morelia Today awaits a day full of fascinating contrasts: first we tour the narrow alleys and hidden streets of the rustic mining town of Guanajuato and later we visit the majestic boulevards of Morelia. Both colonial towns are quite impressive and charming in their own unique way. Day 6: Morelia - Pátzcuaro - Chapala - Guadalajara After a visit to Pátzcuaro you travel along Lago de Pátzcuaro to the archeological site of TzinTzunTzan. Enjoy a boat tour on México‘s largest lake, Lago Chapala, and visit Isla de Mezcala. After a brief stop-over in the city of Chapala we continue to Guadalajara to explore the so-called “Pearl of the West”. Day 7: Guadalajara - Tequila Express - Guadalajara Full-day excursion on the Tequila-express from Guadalajara to Amatitlán and back. Visit the agave fields at the foot of the Tequila volcano and tour the city of Tequila and a historic tequila distillery. Attend a tequila tasting in the domed cellar of the oldest Tequileria in México. Next we return to Amatitlán and visit the modern distillery of Tequileria Herradura. Day 8: Guadalajara - Teuchitlán -Tlaquepaque - Guadalajara View the still mostly unexplored ruins of Teuchitlán and enjoy a hike at the foot of the Tequila Volcano. The craft village of Tlaquepaque, on the outskirts of Guadalajara, offers a great selection of beautiful souvenirs. Day 9: Guadalajara - Puerto Vallarta Transfer from your hotel to the airport for your flight to Puerto Vallarta. Arrival and transfer to Hotel Barceló La Jolla de Mismaloya. Days 9-13: Puerto Vallarta Spend a few days relaxing on the lovely beach of Puerto Vallarta. Day 13: Puerto Vallarta - México City Transfer from your hotel to the airport for your flight to México City.
